Hello, my name is Joshawna Johnson, I prefer to be called by my lovely nickname which is Jojo. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was raised by my grandmother after my mother passed away when I was young. I am number five out of seven kids, and growing up in a big family was always fun. It made me a very family oriented person. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going on walks, coloring and painting, trying new foods, meeting new people. A little bit more about me is my favorite color is green and I love turtles, in fact I currently have a pet turtle named Tiny Tim.
All throughout high school I wanted to go to school to become so many different things such as a Social Worker, Veterinarian, Hairstylist, and more but becoming a teacher never really crossed my mind. An old church member once told me I would be a great teacher one day but I told her, ''No I don't think I would ever want to be a teacher". Until one day I realize I enjoy being around young minds and have always been good with children. With my patience, creativity, bubbly personality, and motivation to teach them new things, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I started working with kids in 2023 at the YMCA after school program and summer camp. I grew the love for it from learning how to keep them busy, teaching them how to communicate their feelings and share, to making them feel apart, and so much more. My experience with working with children has given me more passion to continue with my career in education. Most importantly, children need love and motivation from their teachers because there are so much that can go on behind closed doors at home. I want to become that "Ms. Honey" in my student lives.
My blog will be about my journey in this classroom and the love I have for teaching. I want to share my thoughts and ideas about what I feel is needs to be improved and what I am accomplishing throughout the semester. I want my blog to be a safe space for my thoughts and a place to receive positive feedback.
