My Video Journal.

In this video, I will explain how I would teach a lesson in a classroom while effectively integrating technology to support students' learning. The goal is to show how technology can make lessons more engaging, interactive, and accessible for students. I will focus on how I use digital tools to explain content, check for understanding, and keep students involved throughout the lesson.

Technology Infused Lesson

For this lesson plan, I created a second-grade English Language Arts lesson focused on identifying story elements, including characters, setting, and major events. The lesson was designed to align with second-grade Common Core standards and required me to incorporate direct instruction, guided practice, independent work, and a technology-based component. I included a read aloud, anchor chart modeling, a Beginning, Middle, End graphic organizer, and a digital activity using BrainPOP Jr. to reinforce understanding. The goal was for students to actively engage with the text and demonstrate comprehension through discussion, drawing, writing, and interactive digital practice. Hands-on, project-based learning played an important role in this lesson because students were not just listening to a story; they were actively analyzing it. By completing a graphic organizer, participating in turn-and-talk discussions, and using a digital quiz, students practiced applying their knowledge in meaningful ways. Project-based and interactive strategies are especially helpful in second grade because students learn best when they are engaged and involved. These techniques also help address challenges that may arise in the classroom, such as varying reading levels, short attention spans, and different learning styles. For example, visual learners benefit from anchor charts and drawing activities, while kinesthetic learners benefit from interactive digital components. Using hands-on and project-based strategies also helps with classroom management and student motivation. When students are engaged in meaningful tasks, they are less likely to become distracted or disengaged. Technology tools like BrainPOP Jr. provide immediate feedback, which helps students correct misunderstandings in real time. In my future classroom, I plan to continue using interactive and project-based approaches because they promote critical thinking, collaboration, and deeper understanding. These strategies allow me to differentiate instruction while ensuring that all students are actively involved in their learning process.

Professional Development technology.

 1. Identify the purpose of developing a technology professional development plan.

The reason of developing a technology professional development plan is to create a structured and intentional roadmap for improving instructional practices through meaningful technology integration. In my position as a second grade teacher at Northwood Elementary, this plan helps ensure that digital tools are not used just for the fun of it but stragtegically to support literacy development, differentiation, and student growth. By seeking their identify strengths, setting measurable goals, and outlining specific strategies, the plan ensures that technology use aligns with reading standards, supports diverse learners, and imporves students outcomes. it also allows for ongoing reflection and data driven adjustments throughout the school year.

2. Discuss why it is important for teachers to participate in this type of plan.

It is very important for us teachers to participate in a technology professional development plan because education is continuously evolving, especially in the area of digital learning after covid. At Northwood Elementary technology is integrated directly into classrooms instruction through interactive whiteboards, ipads, Chromebooks, and adaptive reading programs. In order to use these tools effectively teachers must stay informed within their skills. Participating in a structured plan helps teachers improve student digital literacy, differemtiate instruction, and monitor progress using todays time.

3. Identify what types of problems or issues can occur during the development of the plan.

Serveral challenges can occur during the development and implementation of a technology professional development plan. One problem may be limited time for training, planning, and collaboration while balancing daily instructional responsibilities. Another challenge could involve levels of teacher comfort and confidence with digital tools. Access to reliable devices or teachnical support may also present obstacles, especially if technology malfunctions or porgrams do not funcation as expected. Finally, maintaining consistent familiy engagement with digital platforms may require ongoing communication and support. Recongnizing these potential challenges allows for proactive planning and realistic goal setting throughout the school year.
